What is Bextra?

Bextra is a “COX-2 Inhibitor” used to treat complications arising from arthritis. It is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID).

Are there health risks associated with Bextra?

Bextra has been shown to create cardiovascular and gastrointestinal problems after regular use in some patients. Problems range from heart attacks or stroke to gastrointestinal bleeding and ulcers. Bextra has also been linked to potentially fatal skin conditions.

What is Stevens Johnson Syndrome?

This is an immune-complex-mediated hypersensitivity disorder that can possibly be caused by a negative reaction to Bextra. Stevens Johnson Syndrome can be life threatening. It also causes symptoms that include:

• Blistering of mucous membranes
• Fever
• Swelling of the eyelids
• Conjunctivitis
• Flu-like symptoms
